This “turf” node measures temperatures and tilt changes inside the turf banked lobe (on the right with the small white AVR box on top). It uses our custom sensor “chain” with four temperature sensors and accelerometers:

The small black box on the right contains an AVR processor which communicates with the four groups of sensors across to the left. These were placed vertically into features and are flexible to detect material movement.

in 2016 the hummock node gained a solar panel and Li battery – plus a tripod to lift its antenna for a better link.
